one started it long ago

When I came home to California from North Carolina in the 60's - I had a German Shepherd Dog, Cito Von Bernhardt (German import) and Criscrest Silver Souvenir, a poodle! I had to return borrowed Cy (whose owner had been TDY) and, once home in the San Francisco Bay Area, I began shopping for my own GSD. I found a gorgeous Covey Tucker Hill boy in Montara, California. I also found a lovely old house to buy in this small seaside community about 20 miles south of San Francisco. Little did I know I was moving to (one of) the Borzoi capitols of the world as Bruna Henry, Volga Borzoi and Randi L'Ete's Corps de Ballet Borzoi resided in Montara.

My daughter Susan was offered a job at Corps de Ballet Kennels and I went over to meet Randi and survey the situation. There, on Randi's front porch was a vision from my childhood - I saw Swiftcroft Patience and my heart stood stil! There, in front of me, was a replica of my Great Aunt Teddy's Borzoi, Leda. Great Aunt Teddy had brought Leda home from England on the Queen Mary, one of the last trips before World War II.

I spent many a vacation from boarding school in Leda's company. Leda would play hide n seek with me in the hay barns at my Grandfather's ranch in Fillmore. She would follow me as I followed my Grandfather on his rounds of the horse ranch. It was a wonderful idyllic childhood time wth this wonderful hound.

Needless to say, after meeting Patience, I soon had three Borzoi, kids and grandkid of her brother Swiftcroft Ace O' Spades and two compatible Borzoi descendants of Bobbye Potter's Alpine Borzoi. We spent the next few years living happily together - riding the Coast Range and beaches - life was GOOD, I was ALWAYS meant to have Borzoi!

In 1975, we left the Coast for the Western Slope of the Sierra Nevada, Somerset, California…now we had ten acres, the BLM land, El Dorado National Forest in which to play! 1996 found my daughter Susan and granddaughter Jessica moving to the place in Minden , Nevada - now we also had the High Desert expanses in which to romp. We've had some puppies, we've exhibited occasionally, done some performance events but the Borzois' main role in my life are as my companions and my friends. We live happily together!
Here I present a pictorial of my years with my Borzoi……….
